Before we can go into the formation of White Vanguard, it’s important to discuss their precursor group, Youth Alliance. Formed in 2024, it began as a small group of friends; starting with Max Cleeve, Archi Redding, Kai Cunningham, and Harrison Leworthy.
The group made its announcement by burning a Quran and Torah. This was picked up on and supported by Tommy Robinson and his fanbase. Tommy though knew and chose to overlook the Torah burning and chose to promote the group as a new “movement” to combat Islam and the wave of pro Palestine protests.

Rather than challenging the initial signs of antisemitism, TR and team hoped to groom this group and use its energy to swell their ranks and reinvigorate their base which had primarily come from older activists.
Youth Alliance was supported by activists from the South East Division, Turning Point UK and the DFLA to expand and were given organising advice. They were invited into various chats and involved in actions to give them additional skills. Without this support they would’ve faded into irrelevancy.
One of their key actions that helped them grow was joining the South East Division to attack to 2024 Marxism Festival. Harrison was a primary factor in this fight and was responsible for trashing one the stalls and physically beating a SUTR activist.
This relationship though was short lived as Youth Alliance increasingly clashed with far right Zionists within their shared spaces. Concerns increased as the group claimed to have active service members involved and members had claimed to be trying to join Vanguard Britannica.
The group was ousted from civic nationalist spaces though some in South East Division kept links as we saw with Sam Westlake buddying up to Max Cleeve last year. The group had grown enough by that point to carve out its own space.
Youth Alliance began imitating Patriotic Alternative and Active Clubs by holding outreach sessions, spreading propaganda and physical training. This included attempts to train with knives.

As has now happened with White Vanguard, egos clashed and infighting began. A hardcore of activists believed the group was lazy and criticized some of the members for drug use and targeted some of the groups non-white members.
After many name changes, arrests and their media editor leaving for Reform UK, the group split into White Vanguard and another group called Football Lads Protecting Britain.

Tomorrow we will discuss the behaviour of White Vanguard members and how this group acted behind closed doors If you have any information on White Vanguard or on some of their members feel free to email us at antifascistresearchcollective161@riseup.net
